You Don't Have To Face This Alone

Back then, I felt completely alone. I didn't even understand what an eating disorder was, let alone that it could happen to a men. No one talked about it. I didn't have a single guy I could turn to- someone like me who could explain why I felt so out of control, why I couldn't just "fix it", no matter how hard I tried. I thought I was going crazy.

That is why I created Bite Like A Man. To be the place I wish I had- a community where men are seen, heard, understood, and supported. A place with real answers, real resources, and real connection. You're not weak. You're not broken. And you're definitely not alone.

Male Eating Disorders

The Overlooked Reality

Prevalence and Underdiagnosis

  •  Around 6.6 million males in the U.S. will experience an eating disorder at some point.

  •  New research shows that 1 in 5 males aged 15–35 may meet criteria for an eating disorder, with bulimia nervosa being the most common.

  •  Anorexia nervosa is now diagnosed in boys as young as eight years old.

  •  Despite the data, male eating disorders are often underdiagnosed due to outdated perceptions and diagnostic criteria focused on females.

Body Image Pressures

  •  Societal standards around muscularity can fuel body dissatisfaction, leading to disorders like muscle dysmorphia.

  • Many men experience stigma and shame that prevent them from seeking help — a problem made worse by the lack of gender-affirming treatment options.

Hospitalizations on the Rise

  • Between 1999 and 2009, male hospitalizations for eating disorders increased by 53%, a sharp reminder of this growing crisis.
